Weller Single Barrel Bourbon Confirmed by Buffalo Trace

The latest addition to the Weller line, Weller Single Barrel Bourbon is officially being released from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Weller Single Barrel Bourbon will be bottled at 97 proof and will be an annual release, starting Summer 2020

Weller Single Barrel joins the highly sought after Weller line up, including Weller Special Reserve, Weller Antique 107, Weller 12 years old, Weller Full Proof, Weller Craft Your Perfect Bourbon, and William Larue Weller, which is part of the Antique Collection, released each fall.

According to Buffalo Trace, “Many of our Weller fans have been asking for a single barrel bourbon for quite a while, and we’ve planned for this addition for a number of years, so we’re excited to be able to make this happen. Our rye bourbon mash bill has a variety of options, like Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Stagg Jr. George T. Stagg and E.H. Taylor, Jr. bourbons, so it’s nice to be able to offer some variety in our wheated bourbon mash bill as well.”

The Weller Single Barrel will be available starting this June, ans will be limited release offering. It will be released once per year and will be packaged containing a cork stopper, like the Weller Antique and Full Proof Bourbons released last year.  Suggested retail pricing is $49.99.

Tasting notes from Buffalo Trace describe the new Weller Single Barrel as “having a nose of cherry and mint, fading to vanilla.  Caramel and baking spices with hints of cocoa explode on the palate, with a finish of cinnamon, coffee, and a hint of pepper.”

How do you all feel about this newest addition to the Weller lineup? Are you excited to hunt this latest offering, or wish Buffalo Trace would release more of their current lineup?

Me personally, I hope this will be the last addition to the Weller line. I wish I could walk into my local liquor store and find any Weller product at all, let alone the new Single Barrel. Although this will likely be another tastey offering, I am not expecting to ever be able to find it.
